Estate Planning, Criminal Law, and Family Law

(Notice: I currently work full time as an attorney for another employer. My private law practice is something I do after normal work hours to assist those in need of legal help in simple matters. If a matter is complex or will require a great deal of time, I generally will not be able to assist you in the manner you deserve. That is why I only accept simple estate planning, criminal, or family law cases. Many people avoid estate planning thinking that it is only for rich people or those who are more advanced in years. But nothing could be further from the truth. If you have children, you should at least have a power of attorney and a will in place to ensure that should something happen to you, such as a serious car accident, your children stay together and a person you choose is able to take care of them. Additionally, a Health Care Power of Attorney is an important document to ensure there is no confusion about who is to make health care decisions for you when you are not able to do so yourself. I am able to assist you with preparing these important documents. I draft simple wills, powers of attorneys, and advance health care directives. If you need more complex estate planning, I am able to refer you to attorneys who specialize in this area of the law.

In addition to simple estate planning, I have almost 20 years of experience with criminal law matters. Whether it is a speeding ticket, a domestic violence charge, DUI, or illegal drug possession, going to court can be daunting.  I can assist you with your case.  I have served as both a military prosecutor, Federal prosecutor, city prosecutor, and a criminal appellate defense attorney. I am actively licensed in Utah and Wyoming. Due to my current workload, I currently limit my criminal practice to only justice court matters. Call me to discuss your matter.

I also represent clients in simple divorce, child custody, and step-parent adoption matters. Divorce is seldom easy and when children are involved, it can be very difficult on the parents and children alike. When divorcing couples can set pride aside and agree on the terms of their divorce, it makes the process much more amicable. If you believe you and your soon-to-be former spouse can agree on everything, but you want an attorney to review your documents and make court filings on your behalf, I am happy to do so. I can only represent one side in a divorce matter, so I would only be able to meet with one of you.
